Rumsfeld departure is long overdue
The Military Times Group, publisher of Army Times and other military papers, is calling for the dismissal of Donald Rumsfeld. I wholeheartedly concur.
I think Rumsfeld has long ago ceased to be an asset. I wrote back in April that his only value was perhaps as a lightning rod to detract criticism away from President Bush.
Some will question the timing of the Times editorial the day before Election Day. I don’t question it; it’s clearly meant for maximum impact, and I applaud the editors. Anyone who claims to support our troops should be looking for change; they should demand it.
