Each Senator vows to “support and defend the constitution of the United States”, the President to “preserve, protect, and defend the constitution.” Do they have nothing better to do than to protect our impressionable minds when we’re not in church? Why can’t the party of smaller government let consumers decide what to watch? Republicans profess faith in individual responsibility and accountability, decry the nanny state, then apply their sanctimony to save us from broadcast skin and foul language.
I expect Democrats to try to legislate answers for all life’s challenges (sorry dem-friends, I know you mean well), but I want Republicans to stand up for some principle other than incumbency, money interests, and narrow-minded factional politics. Give the American people credit for the judgment to exercise the freedoms protected by the constitution. Preserve, protect, support, and defend the constitution – not interests.
