Why focus on the Oregon Primary?Well, I’m serious about this but I’m a realist about the odds and have very limited funds. There’s no way I could dream of making a blip on the national radar, but here in Oregon I think I might be able to be heard – if only just a little bit. The Oregon primary is usually a non-contest; the front-runner has usually been established long before the Oregon primary. But by collecting just 5000 signatures, I can get on the ballot. In a race that’s probably not heavily contested, the local press might spare a little attention to someone with a different message. I also think many Oregon Republicans are not as radically “right” as the vocal subset that seems to typify the media portrayal of Republicans. My hope is that I might just get enough votes from the disillusioned mainstream, that I could gain a few delegates to the National Convention. Given my resources, I’d consider a trip to the convention a success for a novice. Previous: Term Limits -- Next: Why are you running? |
